Living the Art Life™

Welcome to my Laundry Room

by Cheryl 8 Comments

Well, at least the sign into my laundry room.   Trust me, you don’t want to really see my laundry room.  My laundry room is shared with my garage, which houses EVERYTHING but a car; lots of boxes, many buckets of grain, my kitchen gadgets/small appliances (I hate cluttered counter tops), and things we can’t figure out where to put in the house, etc.   I would LOVE to have a separate laundry room, but not at this house {unless I can finally talk hubby into turning the garage into a closed laundry room / craft STUDIO!!!}

OK, back to reality.   This was inspired by Susan over at Busy with the Cricut.  Susan creates some awesome designs and she is a whiz with anything she creates.  She also has some wonderful cut files she offers, so please check out her work.    She designs for many different places and I love stalking her blog.   She has shared two different laundry signs.   You can see them HERE.  Just scroll down to see the two signs she created.   They are both ‘stinkin’ adorable.   I’ve looked at them so many times and thought I wanted to make one and finally have.   Thank you, Susan, for the inspiration.

I decided to use a Kaiser Kraft wood album cover as my sign.  I inked the edges of the wood with Denim Walnut ink tintZ.  The wood accepted this ink so well.  The papers I used were from DCWV Crafty Stack.   The undies and laundry line were cut using my Gypsy and the Sweethearts cart.   The Laundry Room letters are from my favorite cartridge, A Child’s Year.   I LOVE the font and the images and CANNOT wait for Nursery Rhymes to be available to me.   I added some buttons and even a little butterfly.  I shaded the laundry line and clothespins with Copics and permanent markers.

I covered my letters with Diamond Glaze for a little dimension and shine.  I only added one coat as I was happy with that and didn’t want it to be too much.
I shaded just a tiny bit with my Copic Markers but then added some Perfect Pearls Kiwi.  I wanted it to have a shimmer like a shimmer nightie, but not be all blingy.   I sprayed my splat mat with a mist of water and added a small scoop of Perfect Pearls Kiwi to the water and then water-colored the nightie and the panties.   I added a little diamond Stickles to the bottom edge and the straps as well as a pearl to the center.  Then they were popped up with Glue Dot Pop Dots.
I didn’t want to just hang it from a picture hanger, so I found a JUMBO thumb tack and used my Helmar 450 glue to add flowers and a button.  Doesn’t that just dress it up and make it something pretty to hang from?

I hope you enjoy my door sign.   Thanks for stopping by again today.
Cher~
