Living the Art Life™

Tie the Banner

by Cheryl 7 Comments

Simple, elegant, and thrifty.   All in one banner!  This is the banner that Sage and I put together.
We continued to use the Tie the Knot cartridge.   Here is the banner on a wall in my house.  It was hard to get a good shot of this in my living room at night.
We used one of the invitations and enlarged it to the size desired. We had some space left over to start adding our Monogram tags. We also cut some of the tags in blackout mode – in black – to back our monogram tag. This is one page that was laid out on a 12 x 24 mat.   After these were cut, we misted all of these with Marshmallow Tattered Angels Mist.
We ran our monogram tags through our Xyron,
and placed them on the black background tag.
Now, for the thrifty part.  We had material left over from THE DRESS.   We could not find any paper to come close to matching this eggplant color, so we took this material and cut out scalloped circles with a large Nestability die and my Big Shot.  We cut 2 for each tag.  This was a little harder, because this satin material kept wanting to slide in the Big Shot sandwich and didn’t want to cut completely clean.  They all took a little snipping with the scissors and I do believe this had to do with the material itself.
After the scalloped circles were cut, we took the heat gun to the edges and just ever so slightly burned the edges to seal the cut edge and lightly curl up the edges.  You can see that the one on the left is just slightly curled while the one on the right has not been heated yet.
We put the monograms and circles together with dimension 3D Zots for a little pop and put them on our tags.  The tags were then tied together with some black satin ribbon to finish the wedding colors.
Again, simple, elegant, and thrifty.  Got to love it!!!
Thanks for stopping by.

this is gorgeous, so elegant. If you had ironed bondaweb or vilene to the satin it would have cut cleaner I think, it would have just added a bit of stability as satin is so very slippery.

I haven’t done anymore to the ruffle bag, just been so busy, but i will get back to it.

Hi Cheryl – just popped in to see what you’ve been up to and it seems that you have been busy in the last week with wedding stuff – and they’re great. Hope to catch up with you soon and hope you’re well.
