I finally decided to participate in an online challenge. This was a challenge from Bitten By the Bug. The challenge required using the sign image from Christmas Noel Solutions cartridge, but to use it in a Halloween or Fall project. I actually have that cart, so I thought I’d give it a go.
When I saw this challenge, I thought “How great would it be to create a sign for my Spooky Shack?” And how much better that I can design it with my Gypsy? I love this little thing more each day. Most of my inspiration moments come either when I’m driving or sleeping. I haven’t figured out how to safely drive and design yet (and don’t think that will happen unless my Gypsy gets an update with voice recognition and bluetooth). So, I’ve taken to going to bed with my Gypsy. When an idea strikes, I boot it up and design away. Last night, I sat up and designed my sign for this challenge that looks great with my Spooky Scrap Shack we finished over the weekend. I used the sign and the bottom shadow portion of the lampost on the same cart and welded them together so that I would have one tall sign. I then cut the shadowed portion from recycled cereal boxes for my foundation and layered with Bazzil bling paper for a little something extra. The skull and crossbones came from Gypsy Wanderings. I also used a little Black Diamond and Rock Candy Stickles and some leftover rub-on letters, which I also colored in some portions of. I also added a spider web corner from MS punch. Finally, to make my sign stand up, I covered a metal flower frog with some spooky fabric and stuck my chipboard sign into the frog. I think it came out great and added a nice finished touch to our Spooky Scrap Shack scene.
Here are some pictures. Click on any for a closer look and make sure to scroll down below so that you can see more of my shack pics! And if you have this cartridge, join us at BBTB and let me know that you did!

Wow! Awesome! Would love to have a display like that! I would put it up in our clinic, the patients would love it. Everyday I get more ideas on what to do with the Cricut with all these lovely blogs. I got my Cricut only last Christmas. The Gypsy is coming to the UK in January. Santa!
Thanks for sharing.
this is fabulous….what an awesome halloween display
seriously, you need to start teaching classes on how to do this stuff (in Maine would be perfect 😉 ).
The sign really is a great finishing touch to your Spooky Shack.
Wow!! I love your spooky shack and the sign is just perfect for it! Awesome job with the challenge!!
