So, what is going on through the view into my studio today? Well,I’m taking the time to hang some finished pieces and finally reorganize some of my supplies after my trip. In the process, I found this canvas that I never fully shared with you. This was a canvas I finished at my retreat in New Hampshire back in April.
Each time I create a canvas gal, I think she is my fave, and this one is no different. I think this one is one of the best I have created.
I finally achieved a good balance of layers, I think. I added layers of paint with stencils as well as stamping layers using all my colors of Archival inks. I ended up ordering the complete collection of Archival inks and have to say, “I love them” and I find myself reaching for them again and again.
I used some Melody Ross paper for my gal, but I needed to draw the legs by hand. Not too bad, huh? I added a little extra ink all around my gal using a Faber-Castell pen, and I used Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste for all of my collage layers.
One of my favorite stamps from my collection of Wendy Vecchi’s Studio 490 stamp sets.
When you are working on a canvas, don’t forget those sides. This really completes your project.
And go ahead and sign your work. You are an ARTist; claim it.

Cheryl: This turned out so great!! Love the canvas and all the details, doodles, inkiness you put into it.
Cheryl says
Thank you, Veronica. This is one of my favorite pieces to date. I used it as inspiration for my website & etc. I created this at a retreat where I was the only person painting; I think they thought I was a little strange. LOL

So awesome hearing a bit about your process. I couldn’t possibly do anything like that–but it makes me feel like I’m watching you create this amazing piece!
Cheryl says
Thank you for the compliment, but I’m confident you could do something like this. And that is what I help with when I travel and teach. I love sharing with others how they can create a piece of art.

Everytime I see a person create artwork and walk through the process, I can’t help but to just sit back and marvel at the attention to detail that goes into the creation of the masterpiece. Gorgeous!
