Living the Art Life™

Scraplift Inspiration

by Cheryl 12 Comments

I always try to create something new and original to share with you, but thought I’d share a really quick project that I totally scraplifted!   Besides, isnt’ that why we keep following others’ blogs – to find new ideas and be inspired?  I personally get excited when I see that someone else has used a project of mine for inspiration.

Sheila, at She’s a Sassy Lady, recently created a project using a box from Magoo at Design, Create, Inspire.
Magoo designed a perfectly executed hexagon box on her Gypsy (her designs are always perfect, aren’t they?).   Magoo shared the file with Sheila and she put it together and showed some really great instructions on how to do so along with some fabulous little tips.   You can see her original design and instructions as well as the gypsy file link by clicking HERE.

Since Sheila did such a great job showing how she put her box together, I won’t bore you with the details again.   Instead, I’ll just show you a different look using Magoo’s exact same file.   The paper used is DCWV Mi Casa collection.

Here is a view from a slightly different angle.  I found that this file produced an interesting pattern when using striped paper if you lay the paper on your mat so that the stripes are running horizontal.   By doing so, you get 2 opposing sides that are vertical and 2 adjoining sides create a great chevron angle with the opposite 2 sides doing the same.  This paper is heavy glitter cardstock and cut REALLY nice using this file.  I think my Gypsy is cutting much better with this new update!  I used Helmar 450 to hold my box together and even to glue the lace to the top edges and the flourish to the top of the box.  The flourish is self adhesive, but needed a little more to stay on the glitter cardstock.  I also used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to glue the flower to the top so that it would stay on the glitter paper (my dimensional dots don’t seem to stick too well and stay on glitter cardstock) and yet still provide a little more dimension.
Here is a close up of the flower and flourish.   The flowers were basic Prima white flowers that were heavily misted with Glimmer Mists.  Creative Imaginations Brad added to center.   The flourish is an Artisan Swirl Elements by Pink Paislee.   These are so very neat and come blank.  You can paint them, ink them, mist them, etc.   I used Ranger alcohol inks and Ranger refillable pens to color the flourish and topped it with a little glimmer mist too.   It truly added that little extra to my box top.
So, there you have it.  Another look to the same cut file.    Thank you, MyaMagoo and Sheila!!!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit today.
