This is the sketch I had to work with. I found this a fun sketch after I started working on it. I used all kinds of supplies for this. I used stash from one of my Scarlet Lime kits again which included papers from October Afternoon, MME, and Bella Blvd as well as alphas from Glitz, Cosmo Cricket, and MME. Stickers are from AC Remarks: Vacation. I used Bazzill Basics white cardstock and brads from MME, Straw Distress Ink and Pine Needles and Vintage Photo Distress powders, as well as ATG tape, Glue Dots and some Helmar Scrap Dots to hold it all together!!
I used brads and twine to replicate the dotted border around the outer edge by placing the brads in the corners and wrapping the twine around the brads going all the way around the page. Here is a closer look at one corner, and you can see the twine is slightly raised off the page.
I also cut out a printed banner again as I did on a previous layout. I cut around the image of the lower banner and then slightly curled up the edges to provide a little more dimension.
And I decided to use a pine cone for my center flower, since that is the state flower of Maine. (Many of us don’t consider a pine cone a flower, but it is). It may not necessarily go with a diner theme or my pics, but I thought it would still be fitting since we were at the Maine Diner. I printed and cut these layers using my Cricut Imagine and the 50 States cartridge. It was so nice to be able to just choose custom colors rather than find the right green or brown and lay them out on the mat. I’m finding that either my Expression isn’t so finely tuned, or the Imagine is just really better at cutting fine details.. After these images were printed and cut, I embossed them with Distress embossing powders for that rough dimension.
So, I’d love to see you play with this sketch too.
