I finally got an ATG gun. Why did I wait so long? I really wanted some way to just grab it off my desk without it laying down and being covered by scraps of paper and I wanted it always within reach. I’ve seen some of those wooden stands and they are beautiful, but I was so excited to find one that I could make (without getting into DH power tools). This was not my original idea. I saw one on the desk of Voodoo Vixen at Scrap Happens Here and I was very intrigued. I posted a comment asking about it and she was so very gracious to share the directions with me. I love all my crafting sisters (and brothers) out there. There are some wonderfully creative people out there who are more than willing to share their passion of crafting and creations.
I did modify the design a little because I wanted something that was portable and that I could pack in a crop tote. I also asked Ms. Voodoo Vixen for permission to share this with you. Please click HERE to see her original design and my inspiration piece.
So here is the one I created. It was so simple. Thank you again Voodoo Vixen for these directions.
Here are the directions and what you would need:
-
one piece chipboard 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches
-
two pieces chipboard 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches
-
paper to cover both sides of all chipboard
-
Lay long piece of chipboard on your chosen paper and glue down taking edges over to make it neat.
-
Lay the two smaller pieces next to each other onto one length of paper and leave one end extra long to attach to the bottom of the first bit. I left a tiny space – 1/4″ space between your chipboard pieces so that it will fold easily. Voodoo Vixen then used the other extended piece of paper to fasten down onto the top of the long bit to stabilize mountain top and permanently hold in place. I just wrapped edge around and glued to little piece leaving pieces flat.
-
I then added two jumbo brads that I created with my I-top bradmaker for the base and a small brad in the top of the mountain top for the ATG gun to rest upon. If you use brads, you may want to add them to front before covering the bottom of chipboard with paper. I decided to do this afterwards and so added just a strip across the bottom to cover brad ends. Now, this works similar to the easel cards and rests against the brads. And you can fold up for easy travel.
Here it is folded closed.
I then decorated it with flowers and rub-ons. I also covered the brads with Diamond Glaze so that they would hold up well to being rubbed by ATG.
