I have had a whole bunch of ideas and inspiration for my holiday cards this year and I even made a few prototypes of different types. Nevertheless, I was actually pleased to find myself being drawn to the first inspiration I had this year for my holiday cards. That inspiration came from some Penny Black stamps I saw at my LSS, Everything Scrapbook & Stamps.
I will admit that this was fun, but it was also a challenge. No matter how organized I was when I started this project and had all my supplies ready, each card is unique (some would say imperfect). I’m having to let go of that search for perfection and realize some things are NOT that important. Sometimes the ink on one of the trees would dry quicker than I could get the Sticky Stuff on there. Even using a mask for placement of the front sentiment, sometimes the trees would still be higher than expected or my sentiment got stamped lower than expected. Sometimes the tree would still get the little rubber marks from around the image itself.
I was so grateful for the X-large tattered angels splat mat for this project. It did help keep the glitter and glitz somewhat contained. I do still have glitter in many places and around my room, but that is mostly from my hands and moving cards from one table to the next for the Stickles to dry.
I do have one tip for you. SWIFFER SWEEPER dry cloths are the BOMB for cleaning up after EP and glitter. They quickly wiped up my splat mat, table, and even my cards. After using this super fine EP and embossing, there was still a sheen of EP on my card. A quick swipe with a Swiffer and it was good.
