Living the Art Life™

Mama’s Got a Brand New Bag

by Cheryl 12 Comments

Actually, I have two!  I am almost done with Sage’s dress.  It has been on hold all week because I can’t get her to stay home and stand still long enough to pin the hem.   She seems to always be on the go lately; driving a little slower and more careful, but always going somewhere.  All I have left to do is pin her hem and sew it and add one little eye hook.   It came out really nice and I’ll show it to you in the next few days.

While my sewing supplies, machine, serger, and cutting table were all out, I decided to do some other sewing projects.   I’ve made some new projects and finally finished some mending.

Above is one of my new handbags.  I found some of this material at a local fabric shop, The Jam Patch, and bought some to make some projects for my studio.  This fabric is Moda’s Hushabye line.  They only had a limited supply so I bought some more from Etsy because these colors and patterns really spoke to me and will look really great in my studio.  I saw this handbag in the store and they told me of all these patterns you can find at http://www.modabakeshop.com/.   I made the handbag first, but have some more projects to show you with this fabric line and some blog candy coming your way as well, so stay tuned.

Here is another picture so that you can see how deep it really is.  I put two magazines inside for demonstration.   I love this bag with all the pockets on the outside.

I even added a few pockets with leftover strips and covered a piece of cardboard for the bottom.  I LOVE this bag.

This is another bag I made with a Moda Jelly Roll.  This was from Cherish line and the strips were serged and then added to the bag base to make the ruffles.  This one was a little harder to make, but came out quite pretty and frilly.  I love these colors also and it will go with a lot of my clothes.

I added some pockets to the inside of this one too, and have already loaded it with stuff.

I hope you like my new bags.  I’ll be back to paper crafting soon, but realized how much I do enjoy sewing also, so you’ll probably be seeing some more sewing projects here and there.

Have a wonderful 3-day weekend.  Don’t forget to check back for some great blog candy.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Darcy. It is actually from a pattern I had ordered on HSN a while back. It is an Indygo Junction pattern. Here is a link to it. http://www.indygojunctioninc.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=127_148&products_id=812.
