Good morning! The view through Cheryl’s Window today is this fun OVERSIZED tag I made. I have no idea what # this tag is supposed to be, but it is 4×8.5”. Let me just say it is a great tag to work on. This tag was done as a feature on the Helmar Blog this week as well as part of the Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 5 at Studio L3 sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. This is my first time officially participating with these challenges and sure hope to play along each week as possible. I decided to also add this to the Anything Goes Challenge at Simon Says Stamp & Show.
Here you can see it next to the standard-sized #8 tag. I was a little intimidated by the size at first, but really wanted to try this one and needed a balance for the large dragonfly. The dragonfly was created using bits and pieces from Tim Holtz Fanciful Flight Die and altering the body just a bit to create the long segmented dragonfly tail.
The tail was extending by cutting a few extra bodies and cutting the tails off to glue onto the back end of the main body using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. All of the dragonfly parts were cut out of Grungeboard and I love how Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive holds grungeboard like nothing else. The dragonfly’s body and wings were all put together with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.
The Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 5, this week at Studio L3 is the Shattered Stains technique from page #48 of Tim Holtz’s A Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 2. Here is a close up of my Shattered Stains dragonfly. You can see that for added pizazz, I embossed the top layer of the wings with Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder.
The legs were created by cutting and just slightly bending a few pieces off of some leftover Zutter O-Wires I had. The legs were glued into place with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots.
The rest of the tag was created by stamping with Archival ink and then embossing (dry and wet). I followed this by inking the entire tag with various Distress Ink colors and, of course, some water drops. Every dragonfly loves the mist. The dragonfly and the journaling strips were layered onto the tag using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. The control over placement and height of elements that you can achieve using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots is unattainable with any other adhesive.
So, here is the completed tag once again. I hope you will consider playing along with the Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 5 over at Studio L3. This challenge ends on Thursday. However, if you miss this one, another will be posted on Friday.
I had such a great time getting inky and playing with different elements and techniques to create this tag, but I couldn’t have put it all together without my trusty Helmar!
Thanks for stopping by today,

Cher, welcome to the CC2 Challenge, and my gosh, what a stunning debut! Your Shattered Stains work is brilliant, and the giant tag is gorgeous. Great use of color and imagery. Thanks so much for joining in, and I hope to see you again and again!
Wow, Linda Ledbetter visited MY blog! LOL. I do truly appreciate you taking the time to visit and leaving such a sweet comment. I do hope to be back playing again. I’ve got one for this week designed in my head, so now to make time to get it on my project.
This is so beautiful! I love your work! So happy I found your site through Theresa Cifali.
Thank you, Peggy. I have been stalking your blog too. 🙂
Beautiful tag – I love your dragonfly, & the quote is so true!
I love Studio 490 Stamps for many of my quotes. They are perfect for things like journals and tags!
Your tag is stunning. I love how you transformed the butterfly into a dragonfly. Tag is beautiful.
Thank you, Michelle.
You do think outside the box! What a creative mind. I’ll share with others (and of course give you credit!)

Awww, thank you, Sheila. I try to do something different every once in a while. 🙂
This tag is just exquisite! I particularly love the dragonfly. The dimension it adds brings it to another level. You’ve also done a fantastic job showcasing the product you used! Kudos!
Thank you, Theresa.
I don’t know about you but I get in a comfortable rut working in the same sizes regularly. It’s good to stretch ourselves outside of that from time to time and you’ve made a lovely job of this oversized piece! 🙂 The Design Team are really pleased that you joined us for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge this week – Thank you!
Wow! Thank you for taking the time to visit me. It was fun to play along and I hope to again. It was a great break for me to play and complete something for fun. And I did love those bigger tags and will be looking for some more.
Stunning, love every detail of your tag.

Thank you so much, Sharon.
You are so clever with those legs! Love it all.
Jackie, you are so sweet. I’m learning to keep a stash of bits, pieces, etc close by my desk for use in art journaling, collage fodder, etc. I had those extra o-wires nearby and suddenly thought they would make the perfect legs.
gorgeous. love everything about it.
Thank you, Nancy.
Beautiful project- and I LOVE the quote on it!
I can always find a great quote in my Studio 490 stamps! Thank you.
Gorgeous tag! Love the way you pieced the dragonfly body everything has great texture! I love that! Helmar has wonderful products even here in the USA:) Nothing gives dimension at different heights and angles like Liquid Scrap Dots! My all time favorite! Beautiful work:D

Yay, another Liquid Scrap Dot fan! I had to learn to be patient to let it dry, but now is one of my favorite products. Nothing else like it.
This is very cute. I will share it today
Hugs
You are just awesome!
Awesome work I really love it!!!!
Thank you.
Really beautiful work…all of it!!!
Thank you. It was lots of fun to make this one too.
I need some helmars glue not sold in the USA 🙁
Jani, which glue from Helmar are you looking for? A lot are available in USA.
Stunning tag! Love all the hues of yellow & green. Feels like spring. The use of the O wires is awesome!
I can’t wait to try the new Spring yellow distress ink. I love yellow.
This is beautiful! I love the large tag size. Sometimes I run out of room on the #8 tags. Great idea creating a dragonfly out of the butterfly die. I’ll have to check out the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you, Donna. I think I need more of these big tags too.
