Well, I’m getting a little pile of my cards for ICAD2 and I need a place to store them and a way to carry some extras in my purse. This is created using the Index Card Folder by Sizzix, designed by my friend, Eileen Hull. I have been looking for the perfect project for it. This is it!
This is what the die looks like. It is an XL die and is specifically made to be used with mat board so that it will cut and score at the same time.
Here is how I made it:
1. Using my XL plates, I made a standard sandwich for Bigz dies and ran it through with the mat board.
Isn’t this awesome? Look how PERFECTLY it cuts and scores all at once.
3. I folded the scored creases.
2. I used Authentique paper from the Journey collection to cover the inside as well as the outside of my box. I used Helmar Acid Free Glue to adhere all my selected papers to the mat board and then inked around all edges using Distress Ink in Faded Jeans.
3. For a closure, I decided to use an I-Top Magnet Daddy. I decided to use two of the magnets to create a firm closure.
4. I colored my die base with Ranger Alcohol Ink to coordinate with my project.
5. I then sprayed it with Helmar Krystal Kote Gloss spray and glued it on the inside base with Helmar 450 Quick dry Adhesive.
6. I still needed a way to contain my cards so they wouldn’t fall out in my bag. So, I created a ribbon belt using two ribbon sliders from my stash. I picked these up a while back and was so thrilled to find them again. The little one will fit through the big slider. I wrapped the ribbon around the rod and adhered the ends with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and used the same adhesive to glue the ribbon around the backside of the box. I love that Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive does not seep through and show on my ribbons. I even added created some faux pearls across the ribbon as you see on the cover of the box with Viva-Décor’s Perfect Pearls in Ice White.
Here are a couple of views of the box open. I enjoyed making this so much, that now I’m anxious to try to some score-boards and get some more mat boards. If you are participating with the ICAD2, how are you storing and transporting your index cards?
Thanks for stopping by today,

Cheryl – I love this perfect folder to hold your ICAD creations. Would be a fun thing to take along on a trip to create mini journal pages on the go. I’m looking forward to playing along with ICAD starting this weekend.

Cheryl this is so pretty! I love it! Could this type of project be scaled down to hold business cards?

This one particular box could not be the way that it is designed. However, Eileen Hull not only has another die especially sized for business cards, but she did create a way to use these two together for cards. http://www.eileenhull.blogspot.com/2012/05/on-road.html

Wow! I have this die and love it! I have been struggling to figure out a great way to hold the cards inside too…you ROCKED it with the ribbon and sliders! THANKS!
Cheryl Boglioli says
Thank you, LaurelsFrench. I was trying to figure it out too, and was thrilled to come up with this. You could also glue the ribbon under the paper, but I would recommend a thinner ribbon if so. I just used it as a decorative element.
