Today’s project is a little hanger for my studio comprised of Studio 490 Art Parts that were stamped with Wendy Vecchi’s Studio 490 coordinating stamps and colored with Ranger Distress Stains and Distress Inks as well as some paint and Ranger Alcohol Ink. You can see that there are many different layers here all glued together with Helmar 450 Quick Dry. This might be my favorite adhesive because it can do so many things and because I like to work with dimension and mixed media quite often. Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive has proven itself time and time again in so many of my projects as it has once again for this one.
I love all the elements layered together and the fact that Wendy Vecchi made these Art Parts that fit so perfectly with her stamps. It’s so easy to create a finished project with her coordinating parts. However, we are not limited by the stamps alone. You’ll see that I turned one of her flowers into my art palette. I painted it with Golden Titanium White and then added the little paint circles with Claudine Hellmuth paints. I then grunged it up and toned it down with some Weathered Wood and Walnut Distress Inks to help it blend in with the rest of my project. I thought that was quite clever, what do you think?
I’ve also added a Tattered Angels chipboard wing found deep in my stash. I inked it up and then added just a little stickles to it and rubbed it in. The dress form was stained with Antique Linen Distress Stains and then I added the color detail using my Ranger Distress Markers. I didn’t think I would be so impressed over markers, but I find I truly love them and keep reaching for them more than I thought I would. The lovely handle on top was found on my latest antique shopping trip when I was in New England. The handle and the “A” brad were more of a brassy color, but I was able to alter the color with Ranger Alcohol Inks. I used mostly Silver Mixative with a little Mushroom to tone down the bright silver color.
Needless to say, there are many different elements in this hanger. The background piece is an Art Part that was covered with Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper and stained with Ranger Distress Stains. I adhered the paper to the background part using Helmar Acid Free Glue; I wanted a smooth and complete covering with the paper and knew that the Helmar Acid Free Glue would give me total coverage and yet dry quickly and not warp any paper and/or compressed paper/wood art part. All other elements were attached using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, including the handle on top. I could have drilled holes and screwed it in, but why when I know Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive will do the trick.
Now to add a little hanger on the back and hang this on a wall in my studio. I think I’m going to put it up on the wall in front of my desk so that I can see it every day. I adore the way this came out and love all the elements on it. It speaks to me and the direction my work is taking on a personal level. I hope you like it and can see that Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive works hard to attach so many different elements and can help make us all artists by keeping our work together for a long time to come. Make sure to visit Helmar’s blog this week to see even more ways to use Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. Ok, now I need some more Art Parts too!
Thanks for stopping by today.
