For My Art Sister Swap
The best part of decorating a tree for the holidays is adding those special ornaments that have sentimental value to you.
You know the ones – the handprint your daughter made in preschool 20+ years ago, the first ornament in your new home, the picture of your special dog that went over the rainbow bridge, the tiny glass slipper you picked up at Disney… I’m sure you have your own that you are thinking of, right?
Over the years, I’ve also collected a few from friends, and this year I am super excited to have that collection grow.
My sweet friend, Cat Kerr, invited me to be a part of a small Art Sister Ornament swap.
I knew immediately what to create and I planned to use Powertex.
ps…Make sure you are following me over at Cheryl Boglioli Designs to see the great ornaments I received in the swap too.
My bases started with Smoothfoam balls and gorgeous May Arts Ribbon. Then I went to work layering multiple layers of Powertex Universal Art Medium and Powertex 3D Balls for texture along with Powertex Pigments and bits of lace or fabric for even more texture.
I was able to achieve some very different looks by varying the Powertex colors used along with the placement of the bits and baubles.
I love playing with Powertex more and more each time I create with it. It truly is a Universal Art Medium in that I can create 3-dimensional projects or paint with it on a canvas or board.
If you are interested in a taste of what you can do with Powertex, my first class, Powertex Bottles Scarves, is available now. This is a great intro if you’ve never used Powertex. Whereas, if it’s been a while since you’ve dipped into Powertex, this could be a great refresher.
I will be offering different online classes working with Powertex (and more) in 2020 so make sure you have signed up for my latest updates with my Living the Art Life™ Newsletter.
Before you go, leave a comment below and tell us what your most prized ornament is on your tree. I have a paper wreath my daughter made when she was little. Her picture is in the center and it is one of my most prized ornaments.
