Super Simple Stamped Holiday Tags
When Rita asked if I’d create something for her Handmade Christmas Hop, I knew I wanted to create something using her swirly Cowboy Boot Art Foamie stamp! I love that I can use my paints with the Art Foamie stamps. Even better is when I use paints with my Gel Press plate.
Paint & Stamp
I selected only a few colors of DecoArt Media Fluid acrylics to use for this project to keep it simple and I chose fluid paints because they dry quickly and they won’t get so thick as to get in all the swirly grooves of the stamp.
Reds and greens and kraft paper for holiday gift wrapping are some of my favorite holiday colors, so I stuck with those colors for my tags too! The blues and greens with just a pop of white and silver blended to create one set of boots. I then used reds and gold for another set of boots.
Scan N Cut
I DO NOT like fussy cutting by hand. Not in a car…not in a train…not on a scrapbook cruise…not at all. Some people enjoy that. I am not one of those. So I LOVE my Brother Scan N Cut that allows me to stamp or draw an image and then scan and cut it. Boom! Done!
However, before scanning, I did take a pen and outline any little edges that did not ‘print’ clear and sharp when I stamped the image as well as any open areas of the stamp that the Scan n Cut might read like an open design since I only wanted the outline image cut.
I left a 0.04 margin and look how nice that worked! The bonus was that all my boots were cut out in less than 6 minutes for 2 pages of boots including load time.
After scanning one of the stamped boots, I made a shadow image and filled the page and cut some shadows for my boots to give a little more oomph to my holiday tags. I saved this to my machine for later use too, because I’m sure I’ll use this again and I’ll need more tags of course.
Finish and Tag a gift
The last step was adding a little adhesive to the back of my stamped boot and adhering it to the shadow boot.
And that is it! You could definitely add more bling or trim to dress these up, but I loved the simplicity and the sense of accomplishment in whipping up a super simple handmade project.
