This is a picture of my Mom as a young girl. I struggled with this layout because there were a few elements that I wanted to add and they were not working with this layout. So, I had to just take them away and add some other things and these worked out even better than I had planned. I also struggled with the journaling. After putting my page together, I really wanted to journal on it and I didn’t want it to really be hidden, but I didn’t want it to distract from the pretty page. I had to sit back and remind myself why I am scrapbooking to begin with. My handwriting may distract from the aesthetics of my page, but it COMPLETES my page and, therefore, it stays.
The page was put together with paper from The Girls Paperie my Margie. I love her papers and her embellies. If you haven’t played with these yet, make sure you pick some up. I also added some lace and trim as well as some flowers from Prima and some little pearls from KaiserCraft.
The title was cut from a cereal box and then again from some green cardstock using my Gypsy to weld the letters together and using Storybook cartridge.
Now, for my pictures for today – I’m loving my camera and it has me out taking pictures again. Whew! – one of my resolutions I haven’t been good at sticking too.
I have had a momma woodpecker that built a nest in a tree right outside my studio window. She has been teaching her baby birds to fly. There were two, but now there seems to only be one; I don’t know if the other got hurt or what. Anyhow, she was out flying around my backyard the other day and they were doing ‘pole exercises’, (my terminology), going from one telephone pole to another and up and down them. Yesterday, I went out to get pictures and she took him into the trees. Stubborn little kid came out to show off in front of my camera.
Here is the baby showing off his great little wingspan and his flying feathers and chirping about how proud of himself he is. His momma stayed in the tree for a while and kept calling for him to get back, but he liked showing off for me (that is what I keep telling myself anyway).
So, mama came out to entice him with a nice juicy beetle. Isn’t this so cool?
I hope you enjoyed your visit with me today. Thanks for stopping by.
