OK, Fall isn’t really here…and never really is… but I have some Fall colors in my house. I am so jealous reading crafty blogs where there are showing pictures of beautiful Fall colors in their neighborhoods and some are even starting to share photos of their front yards covered in the first snows of the year. Here, it is still in the mid 80s and my air conditioner is running 24 hours. I was able to finally get outside yesterday and pull some weeds and do some gardening without wilting of a heat stroke.
Anyhow, my scrappin girlfriends came over Saturday to crop together. I had three projects lined up to work on, but only finished this one. It took a little more time than I thought (I’m not really good at planning time for my projects), but it was very much worth it to me.
Every single one of the leaves and the branches/sticks are made from paper. I saw the idea on one of the many wonderful videos from and made my own. I bought the styrofoam wreath form and covered it with beautiful chocolate satin ribbon I found on sale! It took a whole 9 yards to cover the wreath and create the ribbon bow. The leaves were designed on my Gypsy using various cartridges. Most were cut from 4-9 inches from ACY, AA, GW, GF, HA, PAF, SB, and WC. (I’ll post a sidebar detailing abbreviations later this week). I used Making Memories Autumn Splendor paper, which I got on sale at Michaels, to cut all the leaves, and included a little Basic Grey Sublime for the branches. I also threw in a few leaves cut from some beautiful paper by My Minds Eye called Fall in Love given to me by my friend, Beth. I crinkled all the leaves and inked the backs and front with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, and Walnut Stain. The paper was plain on the back and with the added inks, the backs were just as pretty as the fronts. Many of the papers had a little bit of glitter or embossing on them. And, since it is paper and would not hold up well on my oCustom Crops utside door, we decided to place it on my large dining room wall mirror. I hate the mirror anyhow, but it brings some much needed light to my dining room and makes it look bigger. The mirror adds an extra dimension to the wreath with the inked backs now being visible. I threw in a few gold picks and TaDa….Fall color in my house.
Here is a closer look. (just don’t pay attention to the mirror that obviously needs to be cleaned)
Now I have to come up with some more Fall decor ideas since I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year for my family. Please send me any ideas you may have!
Thanks for stopping by.
