Living the Art Life™

Emboss a Favor

by Cheryl 8 Comments

Sage and I spent the day, Sunday, embossing these little party favors for a wedding reception.  The wedding she was in a few weeks ago was held in California near the groom’s home.   The happy couple has returned home to Florida’s West Coast and are getting another reception with the brides family and the couple’s school and church friends.   How fun!!!

These little party favors are going to be on the tables with a few kisses in each one.   White and black pairs will be on the cake table and Bride & Groom table.  All other tables will be with the black favors.  These were cut using Tie the Knot Cricut cartridge.   We started to use 12 x 12 black paper but I couldn’t get more than one on the page.  I remembered a pack of Black and White 12 x 24 Provo Craft cardstock.   I honestly hadn’t even opened it and really looked at it yet.  I have to admit that I was so impressed with the texture and weight of this paper.   By using a whole piece of 12 x 24 paper, I was able to rotate my images just a bit and ‘scooch” them super close to one another and, therefore, get 4 on one page.

The paper cut really well and has a great crispness to it.  We were able to use 10 sheets of paper and cut out 40 favor boxes in black.

After getting them all cut out, we moved to the dining room table.  I covered it in my large Tattered Angels misting mat for stamping.  I used one of the stamps from T!m Holtz Fabulous Flourishes stamps and the Big and Bossy embossing pad.

After stamping, we covered the stamped image with American Crafts black Zing powder.  You’ll notice my coffee filter.  I always use a coffee filter now and keep them stashed in my cabinet.  They are easy to fold up and pour the excess out and the embossing powder and/or glitter doesn’t seem to cling to these.  And when you are done, throw it away.  Every other glitter tray and paper seems to attract excess embossing powder and/or glitter clinging to it.
We then used the heat gun to emboss the powder.  Don’t worry, my table has a custom table pad to protect against heat.  However, the heat gun can affect the protective mat (ask me how I know).   So, I used two more Oven Guards on top of my Tattered Angels misting mat for us to heat emboss over.
See how nice this came out and looks elegant and yet it was simple to put together.
We used Ranger Holographic embossing powder on the little white ones.
We didn’t really need to add any more bling, color, or anything else to make these lovely elegant party favors.  OK, we’re off to work on the banner now.
Thanks for stopping by,
