Since today is the first Monday of the month, that means it’s time to hop through and see some amazing projects created by members of Designer Crafts Connection. You can find the link for the blog hop in my sidebar to the right, and you can hop forward and backward. The theme this month is Vintage using vintage craft supplies. I decided to take liberty with that theme and pulled out some old craft supplies. Not necessarily ‘vintage’ but definitely older stuff from when I started scrapbooking.
Do you remember these? Do you have any in your stash? I don’t use color blocking squares any more and I don’t know why I don’t use the fibers more often. I also grabbed a 6×6 canvas board.
Using Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste, I randomly adhered the cardstock squares to the canvas leaving a few spots blank.
The canvas was then covered with gesso using an old hotel keycard. I heat set this with the heat gun, intentionally bubbling the gesso for even more texture. See those bubbles?! love this…
I used the same keycard to add some modeling paste through a Dylusions stencil and pressed the fibers into the modeling paste. After this dried, I used a variety of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and Glimmer Chalkboards to mist and dry colors on the canvas. I added a few streaks of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam and Glimmer Glaze to the canvas and my sentiment which reads, “learn from the mistakes of yesterday and repeat the successes”. Thanks to dear hubby for that inspirational quote.
I love all the texture and dimension I was able to make and it all started with some old ‘vintage’ (to me) craft supplies. You can even see the texture of the canvas peeking through where I didn’t add the paper squares.
I hope you find some successes today to celebrate. This is one technique I will do again. And if you want to watch me create something similar, join me tomorrow night, Tuesday, 9/4/2012 at 7PM EST at Helmar LIVE Ustream.
And starting 9/8, there will be a blog hop with Designer Crafts Connection sponsored by Crafty KT
Hope you will visit again. Thanks for stopping by today,

Thanks so much, Seth. It’s all about the texture for me. 🙂

Very pretty! And I love that the canvas shows through 🙂

Thank you, Meggan. I love little spots of interest and that worked out as a happy moment for me when it showed through!

c~would you like that vintage faber-castell pencil tin ( that I posted on my blog)?
Cheryl says
Oh, Connie….seriously? I would LOVE to have that pencil tin. I did see it when you shared it on your blog and FB. I’d be excited to have it just because you found it as much as that it is Faber-Castell! Thank you so very much.

Oh how fun Cheryl! I remember having those color blocks and I still have many fibers.
