The next submission was to be any altered item. Of course, I waited until the last minute to submit these because I didn’t know if I was really up to the challenge to try for a Design Team. I also wanted to do something a little different than an altered book. I had found some great vases at IKEA that I wanted to make into holiday candle holder centerpieces using an idea in my head of a Christmas village around the bottom with snowflakes around the top. I used my Cricut and the Christmas Solutions cartridge for the village and Joys of the Season for the snowflakes. I etched the positive space for the village and the negative space for the snowflakes using Armour Etch. Here is a closeup of the snowflakes before etching. If you look closely, you can see the village border I had already etched on the bottom.
Here is a picture of the positive of the village border that I welded and adjusted in Cricut Design Studio. I adhered the negative space from this border around the jar; it was hard to put that little border around the jar that gets a little wider as it gets taller; I had to make a few snips and folds to get it to work, but I got it. I just forgot to take a picture of that part…sorry. I did save this positive image b/c I know it can be used as a border for a future scrapbook page.
Here is the final product! It looks so much better in person and with a large white pillar candle in it. However, it doesn’t photograph as easy and didn’t show up much at all with the white candle in it, so I placed a small blue one so that you could see a little better.
Very Cool! Great Job 🙂
