Living the Art Life™

The Crick – SLSketches

by Cheryl 9 Comments

Good morning.  This is my layout for Sassy Lil’ Sketches on the 28th.   If you haven’t tried any of the sketches from Sassy Lil’ Sketches, you really should.  They are fun and fresh and so very versatile.   Make sure to check out their blog for some different perspectives of this sketch and make sure to leave my Sassy friends some love too.
This is the sketch we had to work with for this week’s layout.  I didn’t stray too far from the original sketch and loved the way this one came out.   I have these pictures of mine and Katie’s husbands playing in the creek from our vacation this last summer.   This was such a beautiful spot and was right outside the front door of the house we rented.  The water was quite cold too, so no pics of Katie and I in that water.   Anyway, we were tickled that the property manager kept referring to it as “The Crick”, because I thought that was only a southern term, but here it was in Pennsyvlvania… and we’ve all called this particularl creek, “The Crick”, ever since.
This is a closer look at the poem I found and added.  I thought is was such a fitting poem that went with our guys in moving water.  It is a poem by Brenda Peterson and reads, “Like water, be gentle and strong.  Be gentle enough to follow the natual paths of the earth, and strong enough to rise up and reshape the world.”  I am so thankful for our strong, yet gentle, guys.  I’m thankful for my friendship with Katie and the fact that our husbands are great pals as well as our daughters.   We can go years without physically seeing each other, but we all come together and it’s like we just had dinner yesterday.

Here, I added a few of those alphabet brads (for Scott & Joly)  from Rusty Pickle and a small K&Co brad for the & sign.  The ‘Paradise Found’ image, that you can see above on the left, is a transparency.   I also stamped on a journaling ticket and tucked it behind the one photo.  The papers used throughout the layout, including the title, were all from Basic Grey’s Mellow Collection.  The background paper has this very subtle sky with clouds.  I thought it was great for these photos.
You should try this sketch and share it with us at Sassy Lil’ Sketches.  I’d love to see your layouts, too.
Thanks for stopping by.
Cher~

Lovely page, and what a cute thing to remember about the creek name. That’s why I love crafting memories, the little nuggets of silly info are just priceless.

    Love the poem too.
