I’ll try not to take my internet for granted anymore. I found it hard between time constraints and internet access constraints in Australia to do more than post a few social media posts, so here is a Recap of my #Cheryldownunder in Melbourne, Australia. demos
First stop was Melbourne, Victoria where I spent two days at the From Picture to Page and More show at Sandown demonstrating how fun it can be playing with my Gel Press plate along with paint, inks, stencils by The Crafter’s Workshop, stamps by Carabelle Studio and Darkroom Door and so much more!
It amazing to meet long-time virtual friends in person and make new friends when traveling
I made some wonderful new friends in my first two days and I was overwhelmed with everyone excited to watch some gel printing demos and the people that were waiting to meet me in person. I can tell you that is such a surreal experience that someone from the other side of the world was anxiously looking forward to meeting me…but then I was super excited to finally meet many long-time ‘virtual’ friends in person too.
teaching
Next working gig was with Creating Mixed Media Art owned by Michelle Brown. We had a weekend of painty fun starting with a Gel Press greeting card class followed by my Mixed Media Collage class. The weekend wrapped up with a sold-out Painted Traveler’s Journal workshop!

I am so grateful to Michelle for taking time off work to show me around her area and take me on a road trip. I loved the trip to the Melbourne Museum, downtown Melbourne and Healesville Sanctuary. Yes, I got to see koalas, kangaroos, echidnas wallabies, and many more amazing Australian animals.
Michelle also took time to drive me to a charming little town called Gundagai where we pulled out the paints and The Crafter’s Workshop stencils to dress up some gorgeous Altered Aprons at Scrapping Clearly. Another chance to make new friends and meet long-time online friends in person!
more teaching
We left Gundagai for a quick stop to visit Rachel Grieg at Darkroom Door where Michelle handed me off (with all my luggage in tow) to Julie Short. Julie helped organize the second leg of my trip which picked up in Swansea and I’ll share next time!

It was the start of the most amazing trip ever. This is just a peek at some of the things I did in the first two weeks. I was most touched by the people I met who went out of their way to make me feel welcome and show me their Australia! I’ll be sharing more of my trip soon.
