Each year, Art Mundo celebrates their largest fundraiser, Calendart. Each artist submits one original work of art 5 x 7. Each work is juried and 36 artists are selected. This year, my submission was selected. Once you are selected as a Calendartist, you are then required to submit 12 more pieces of original artwork, 5×7, representative of your original submission.
My original submission was an abstract piece. I used mostly all DecoArt paints. For this original submission, I did include some micaceous iron oxide from another brand as well. The original piece is now professionally matted, framed behind glass and up for auction until the final night of our Calendart Gala. You can buy admission tickets and raffle tickets from the home page of Art Mundo and see all the calendars and original submissions on November 8th. And if you would seriously be interested in bidding on my original abstract above, please email artmundo@artmundo.org and I’m sure we can help you with that. The bid is currently up to $60 and minimum bid increase is $10.
The other 12 pieces were put all put with other artists submissions to create 36 calendars that will also be auctioned and/or raffled at the gala.
My 12 pieces are all here below. You can click on each one for a closer look. Under each multiple layers of paint are Gelli Arts prints using The Crafter’s Workshop stencils. Paints used in all of these is DecoArt paints.
I decided to give each piece some extra oomph and covered each piece with Amazing Crafting Products Clear Cast Resin. I wish you could see these in person, because it’s not the same as the photos, but I took all these below at angles so you could see some. The Clear Cast Resin really made all the layers of color pop and have been quite a hit with all the gallery viewers.
Here are a few BTS photos of the process. Bits of the stenciled, gelli-print backgrounds are peaking through the finished pieces. I added layers of paint, blending and wiping off some as I went. Adding more layers. It was such a fun and freeing process, especially working on small 5×7 backgrounds.
Finally, here are all displayed in the gallery before being divided and added to calendars.
