This week was “Back to School” for many of us, or at least our children. Sage started back to school as well, though this time she is driving herself and is taking on a little more challenging workload. I’m still so proud of her. She is starting her second year of college and is only 16. I try not to push, but I’m also not going to hold her back; no matter how much I wish she was still my little ‘baby girl’.
So, my plan was to take pictures of her first day back on Monday and have them on a layout before she returned home, but I was stuck with ‘glue block’. That’s what I’ve named this condition, anyhow. It’s similar to writer’s block. However, I knew what I wanted to say, but I could not get the arrangement in a satisfactory alignment, no matter how many sketches I tried or copied. So I refused to glue anything. Believe it or not, it just came together this afternoon by accident when I was moving it out of the way – without any sketches or previous design in mind! And I am very happy with the way it came out.
I weaved black fiber through the scalloped edge paper and used Plantin Schoolbook to cut out the letters for the title with my Cricut. I also finally used my stamps from CK, “Not Your Ordinary Stamp Set” for the dates: aug & 09. I inked them rather than use paint.
I have some plans to finally cut some vinyl this weekend, so make sure you check back to see what I’ve done!
Hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by!

Sometimes walking away from what stumps us will do the trick & obviously it worked for this layout! Not only is this a great “back to school” page filled with great techniques, but the “stage” you set for the photo of the layout is perfect!
