Living the Art Life™

12 Tags A Framed

by Cheryl 6 Comments

I did finish my 12 Tags of Christmas and have finally mounted them in my seasonal wall art frames.   I just had fun with these tags and followed Tim’s directions rather closely.   I decided I wanted to just create and not have to put a lot of thought into it.  I also have been looking forward to participating with his 12 Tags all year and, therefore, had been slowly collecting supplies and growing my Tim Holtz stash.  So, I wanted to actually use what I had bought.  I’m sure these tags have a great $$$ value to them now, but it still came out cheaper than sitting in a class with him for 12 days, so I feel like I won a bargain here.    Now that I have finished them, I have a ton of ideas. I learned either a brand new technique, or a different approach to a technique on each and every tag.  I have to say that I had a blast making these, so THANK YOU, T!m for the wonderful inspiration.

I did find a few places to improvise and use my Cricut for various cuts.   I had fun playing with my Cricut and honing my skills at cutting Grungeboard and Grungepaper.   It truly cuts really easy with a little extra attention to your blade and settings and a good mat.  And I definitely got inky, but finally tried the Inkessentials Craft Scrubbie, and I have to say that it really does work!

I cut a house from Jolly Holidays out of grungeboard.  I did use my deep cut blade and cut it multiple times.  I think I cut one too many times because it did cut into my mat some, but that’s OK, it cut the grungeboard beautifully.    The fence is from Mini Monsters.

I cut the layer for the house out of grungepaper as well as the snow cap layers for the house.

I ran the grungepaper house through the notebook embossing folder and inked the grungeboard base for shadows, windows, and doors.  I also used some clear packaging to replicate window panes behind the grungepaper layer.

Here is the house layered and flocked with sparkly fluff.  Will definitely be cutting more grungeboard and grungepaper with my Cricut.

So, here are closer views of my tags now framed and on my wall.   I mounted them on BoBunny holiday paper with some Glue Dots and placed them in my frames.  They definitely add some Holiday Flair to my living room!

Thanks for stopping by.
